Monroe County Special Olympics provides year-round training and competition for 1800 children and adults with mental retardation in 13 local sports. Below is a list of sports in which Olympians in Monroe County may train and compete.

There are sports offered by New York Special Olympics and International Special Olympics not listed on this Monroe County (Area 20) page to get a complete listing of all 22 sports available, please go to their web sites.
Unified Sports, a new concept which pairs athletes with mental retardation on teams with athletes without mental retardation, is currently held in volleyball, softball, golf and bowling. Monroe Countys athletes range in age from 8 to 86 and come from 35 schools and agencies in the city of Rochester and Monroe County.
