Monroe County Special Olympics provides year-round training and competition for 1800 children and adults with mental retardation in 13 local sports. Below is a list of sports in which Olympians in Monroe County may train and compete.

Unified Sports, a new concept which pairs athletes with mental retardation on teams with athletes without mental retardation, is currently held in volleyball, softball, golf and bowling. Monroe County’s athletes range in age from 8 to 86 and come from 35 schools and agencies in the city of Rochester and Monroe County.

Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), University of Rochester (U of R), Roberts Wesleyan, Gymnastics Training Center of Rochester, Fairport High School, Olympic Bowl, Brighton Middle School Fields, Monroe Developmental Center, Nazareth College, and other area High Schools & Universities.
